Meadow Sacadura of the RMU softball team has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week, it was announced by the league Tuesday.
In helping lead the Colonials to an overall record of 3-1 (.750) at the Tennessee Tech Tournament last weekend, Sacadura, a native of Mechanicsville, Md., posted a slash line of .455/.538/.545 while scoring three runs and driving in five. She also notched a perfect 1.000 field percentage from behind the dish, posting 17 putouts and an assist.
Sacadura finished 1-for-3 with a double and a run in a 12-3 win over Tennessee Tech (3/10) that helped the Colonials snap a five-game slide in their second game of the tournament. The next morning in a 4-3 win over Ohio (3/11) at Tech Softball Field in Cookeville, Tenn., an RBI single from Sacadura in the top of the seventh helped propel the Colonials to the one-run victory.
The Bobcats had tied the game, 3-3, by scoring three in the bottom of the sixth. Overall in the win over Ohio, Sacadura finished 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. She capped her weekend by finishing 2-for-4 with a run and three RBI as RMU earned another 12-3 triumph over the Golden Eagles to close out the tournament.
Through the first month of the 2023 season, Sacadura is hitting .250 (13-for-52) with four runs, a team-high 11 RBI and a double. She also owns a team-high 1.000 fielding percentage with 66 putouts and eight assists, including throwing out five runners trying to steal.
Named to the 2022 All-Horizon League Rookie Team as well as the 2022 All-Horizon League Second Team, Sacadura is leading the Colonials through the first month of the season in hitting with runners in scoring position at .476 (10-for-21). A total of seven of her 11 RBI have come with two outs and she is a perfect 2-for-2 at the dish with the bags full of Colonials.
