Detroit, Mich. – On the road, the Colonials lost at Detroit Mercy, 14-8. RMU's current record is now 4-4 overall and 1-2 in the ASUN conference. The Titans overall are 1-6 and 1-2 in conference play.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Off to a slow start, the Colonials went down 2-0 in the opening quarter. It took nine minutes for RMU to get on the board, but fifth-year attacker
Taggart Clark did so, three times in the final six minutes of the opening period. After 15 minutes, the score was tied 3-3.
Headed into the second quarter, the windy and rainy conditions ramped up at Titan Field. Battling through the weather, the game continued to be a back-and-forth scoring affair. Detroit Mercy scored the opening two goals in the second, then RMU followed with two. The Titans scored three more, and the Colonials came back with three more in a row.
Liam Keane,
David Burr and
Ben Starkey all scored once and
Colton Lidstone posted the last two goals for RMU.
As the game was tied 8-8 with about nine minutes left in the game, UDM went on to earn their first victory of the season by scoring six unanswered goals. Ryan Birney of Detroit scored four of them, including three goals recorded as unassisted. Birney kept peppering shots as nine of his 16 shots came in the fourth quarter. RMU went on to lose 14-8.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
After 60 minutes were played, the Colonials were outnumbered in most statistical categories against the Titans. RMU did make more saves with 13 compared to nine. RMU successfully cleared 15-out-of-18 times but failed to force a turnover on Detroit Mercy's side. The Titans were perfect entering the Colonials defensive zone all 21 times. When RMU had the extra player, they went 1-for-2. In the face-off circle, junior

Zach Seppi stepped in and won both draws he took.
