Kent, Ohio – A late goal by sophomore
Chelsea Coleman helped lift the Robert Morris women's lacrosse team to a 13-12 victory at Kent State in Mid-American Conference (MAC) action on Saturday afternoon at Dix Stadium.
With the win, the Colonials improve their winning streak to three straight games while jumping to 6-7 overall and holding a 4-1 mark in conference play. Meanwhile, the Golden Flashes fall to 6-7 this season, with a 3-1 mark in league action.
THE GOAL…THE STOP
Kent State grabbed a 12-11 lead with 5:21 remaining in the fourth quarter before Coleman found the back of the net and tied the score 12-12, with less than four minutes remaining. Sophomore
Maggie Boyle came up with the draw control and gave the Colonials an opportunity to take the lead. At the 2:38 mark, Coleman would net her fourth score of the contest and put RMU back on top with a 13-12 advantage. Kent State would win the following draw control before turning it over with 1:24 remaining. The Colonials took advantage of the opportunity and kept it on the offensive side till time expired.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
In the opening frame, Kent State got on the board first at the 11:07 mark before RMU rattled off three straight goals in less than five minutes. Coleman knotted the score after executing a free-position opportunity before junior
Lilli Hadden fired a shot from the top of the circle and found the back of the net. At the 3:34 mark, Coleman took a feed from senior
Julia Koterwas and capped the scoring streak with her second score of the quarter, 3-1. The Golden Flashes responded with a goal of their own as sophomore

Colleen Tifft netted goals to give RMU a 5-2 lead after one. In the second, the Colonials continued to pour it on as scores from graduate student
Bailey Christianson and Hadden gave RMU its biggest lead of the afternoon, 7-2. Kent State trimmed the Colonial lead with consecutive goals before Tifft found the back of the net on a free-position opportunity to give RMU an 8-4 halftime lead.
RULES REVERSED
In the final 30 minutes, Kent State was a different team, outscoring the Colonials 8-5 while trimming the RMU advantage and out shooting them 15-10 in the second half. They opened the third quarter with a score before Tifft and Christianson extended the Colonial lead back to five. Kent State would rally with six straight goals to grab its first lead since starting the game with the opening score, 11-10. Allie Lee and Jackie Wolford combined for five of the six goals as Lee tallied three and Wolford accounted for two during the run.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
A pair of players paced the Colonials with four points apiece as
Chelsea Coleman and
Lilli Hadden led the way. Coleman netted a team-high four scores on eight shots, with six coming on goal while collecting two draw controls and a ground ball. Hadden posted her third consecutive hat trick and her fourth of the season while tallying an assist in the victory.
Colleen Tifft carded her third consecutive hat trick and tallied a team-high four draw controls while causing a turnover.
Bailey Christianson netted a pair of scores while placing both her shots on goal as
Jenna Irwin registered a score, one caused turnover and a ground ball against the Golden Flashes.
UP NEXT
It's a quick turnaround for the Colonials as they host #8 Notre Dame tomorrow, April 16, for its final non-conference match of the season, with the opening draw scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Joe Walton Stadium.
