Moon Township, Pa. – The RMU women's track & field team took part in the Mountaineer Twilight Saturday in its final tune-up for the 2023 Horizon League Outdoor Championships, taking a select number of student-athletes to Mylan Park in Morgantown, W.Va., to compete.
THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT
In the long jump, fifth-year
Tara Gologram claimed gold in the event Saturday, recording a leap of 5.94 meters (19'6") on her second attempt. The distance is a season best and ranks second in the Horizon League entering the outdoor championships next week in Youngstown, Ohio. Gologram owns the Mylan Park facility record in the long jump thanks to her leap of 5.98 (19'7.50") meters in the event last year, which also stands as the RMU outdoor school mark. Rayna Todero earned silver for RMU in the triple jump, notching a leap of 11.32 meters (37'1.75").
RELAY RACES
While Gologram set the the Mylan Park record in the long jump last season, the RMU 4x100-meter relay team did the same with a time of 47.23 seconds. Saturday at the Mountaineer Twilight the Colonials finished first and bettered their facility record, closing with a time of 46.78 seconds. Gologram ran the first leg and she was followed by junior

HURDLES
RMU took home three of the top four spots in the 100-meter hurdles Saturday, with Parker earning gold thanks to a time of 14.89 seconds. Parker outlasted Chaley Younkin (15.01) of Slippery Rock, while freshman
Lindsey Martineau claimed bronze at 15.83 seconds and sophomore
Bethany Naughton clocked in at 15.89 to finish fourth. Martineau also competed in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles, posting a time of 1:12.58.

The 2023 Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Championships are set for Friday, May 6, through Sunday, May 8, on the campus of Youngstown State in Youngstown, Ohio.
