Benz and Prisuta returning to the booth

Moon Township, Pa. - The RMU Men's Hockey team today announced the official broadcast team for all home and playoff games for the 2023-24 season.

With the program returning, RMU Athletics welcomes back familiar faces to the radio booth, including, veteran Tim Benz on play-by-play, and longtime analyst Mike Prisuta for the program's 18th official season.

Benz and Prisuta have served as the broadcasting team since the 2013-14 season, when the Colonials made their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. This tag-team has been the voice of Colonials men's hockey since that season, excluding the 2014-15 year when Benz worked in Boston, Mass. Together, they've been behind the mic for seven total seasons.

"I am so excited that Tim and Mike will be returning to the booth when the Colonials return to the ice in October," said Head Coach Derek Schooley. "Tim and Mike have not only been outstanding on the air but have been ambassadors of Colonial Hockey and College Hockey in Western Pennsylvania. They've been a part of some exciting Colonial Hockey games in the past and we're looking forward to more exciting moments in the future. As Tim likes to say after a Colonial win, 'Leave the lights on at the Ground Round.' To have them back calling Colonial Hockey is the first of many wins for our program."

Involved all over Pittsburgh sports media, Benz has a column with the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Sports newspaper. He has ample amounts of play-by-play experience, calling games for the Duquesne football and basketball teams, as well as WPIAL football, and experience with lacrosse, boxing and MMA. Fans can listen to him on the pregame show before Steelers games on DVE Radio, and talking Steelers football during the week on ESPN Radio Pittsburgh. Viewers can tune in to WPXI on Sunday nights, to catch Benz on their weekly segment, The Final Word. Benz also does podcasts for the BetRivers Network and often features on the Mark Madden Show.

"I've really grown to enjoy college hockey," said Benz. "I'm thrilled and excited to see where the programs go on from here and to see them succeed. I'm excited to be back in the booth with Prisuta."

On color, Prisuta brings years of experience with a hometown touch, as he's been working in the Pittsburgh market since October of 1985, working with several newspapers, radio stations and television. Since February of 2002, he's been the Sports Anchor on the DVE Morning Show.

"This is an exciting time for RMU," said Prisuta. "No one is more excited than me to announce games with Tim Benz again. I can't wait to watch Head Coach Derek Schooley put together another winning team, to win conference championships and earn NCAA playoff berths."

RMU will open the home portion of its 2023-23 campaign with a doubleheader at Clearview Arena Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at the RMU Island Sports Center on Neville Island. The women will host Saint Anselm, while the men will welcome Bowling Green. Season tickets for the 2023-24 season are on sale now and can be purchased by using the following link.
