RMU Drops Loss to Milwaukee

Gamble earns first career start for RMU

Milwaukee, Wis. – The Robert Morris women's soccer team fell on the road tonight to Milwaukee, 0-3. The Colonials are now 7-2-2 overall this season and 1-2 in the Horizon League. The Panthers move to 6-2-2 overall in their schedule and 3-0 in conference games.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
On a late night out in the Midwest, another conference game kicked off at 8:00 p.m. E.T.

The Colonials created the first chance of the game, as captain Kaoru Hayashi had a good look from distance, striking a shot with her left foot, just missing the left of the net.

Going the other way, Brenna Murray showed off her agility, making a diving save to stop a Panthers shot from distance to preserve the tie.

After some play in the midfield, Milwaukee opened up the scoring in the 23rd minute. Murray made a stop on the first shot but Molly O'Regan tapped in the goal.

About 10 minutes later, the Panthers attacked off the rush. This time Kayla Rollins notched her seventh goal of the season.

Looking to climb back, RMU was back in the offensive zone. Hayashi fooled the Milwaukee defense with her eyes looking right as she bulleted a pass to left, finding the feet of Renae Mohrbacher. Her shot off the volley went into the back of the net, unfortunately called offside.

With two minutes remaining, Lidia Nduka in the game found herself on the breakaway. Before closing in, a Panthers defender knocked the ball out of bounds for a corner kick. Off the cross from the corner, freshman Shauna Gamble got a piece of it, just heading the ball wide.

At the end of the first half, RMU was down, 0-2 with seven shot attempts.

In the second half, Milwaukee earned another goal in the 60th minute. Kat Van Booven on the counterattack finished a goal to give the Panthers their third score of the game.

Subbing into the game later in the second half, sophomore Taylor Day almost scored a screamer in the 77th minute. From over 30 yards out, the midfielder took a shot with her right foot, hitting the top bar.

For the remainder of the game, not many chances occurred and Milwaukee took away the win, 3-0.
