MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU men's soccer team claimed a pivotal 3-1 victory over Wright State in Horizon League play on Saturday, propelling them to the top of the conference standings. The win improved the Colonials' overall record to 6-4-2 and 3-1-1 in Horizon League action.
FIRST HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- In the 11th minute, freshman Lucas Barsoee broke through the Wright State defense and found John Paul Mbuthia in space. Mbuthia struck a perfect shot into the top right corner, giving RMU an early 1-0 lead.
- William Dodzi Afawubo was issued a yellow card in the 21st minute.
- The Colonials continued to apply pressure, recording six additional shots before halftime. Wright State failed to register a shot on target in the first half.
- Wright State's Brock Pickett was shown a yellow card at the end of the half.
SECOND HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- Early in the second half, Wright State's Samuel Rudjord and Jack Jenkins were both issued yellow cards.
- Following the second booking, RMU earned a free kick in a dangerous area. Lucas Barsoee stepped up and curled in a stunning shot to extend RMU's lead to 2-0 in the 50th minute.
- In the 68th minute, the Colonials added a third goal when Logan Gilley set up Anass Hadran, who volleyed home a strike to put RMU up 3-0.
- Wright State responded in the 80th minute, scoring off a corner to avoid the shutout.
- RMU managed the final 10 minutes without allowing another shot, sealing the 3-1 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
RMU outshot Wright State 12-7, with six shots on target to the Raiders' three. The Raiders earned seven corner kicks, while the Colonials had four. RMU's backline, including

Tim Koczulap, and Barsoee, played the full 90 minutes. Goalkeeper
Josh Lane made two saves to secure the win.
DEPTH SCORING
Five different Colonials contributed to the scoresheet, the highest number in conference play since their 3-2 win over IU Indy on September 21.
Logan Gilley notched his fourth consecutive assist and leads the team with five.
Kai McLoughlin added his first assist of the season.
Anass Hadran scored his third goal of the year, while Barsoee and Mbuthia each netted their second goals of the campaign.
HORIZON LEAGUE STANDINGS
With the win, RMU sits atop the Horizon League standings for the first time in program history. The Colonials, with a 3-1-1 conference record, are halfway through their league schedule and still have matchups against Green Bay (#2), Oakland (#4), Detroit Mercy (#7), and Cleveland State (#10).
