RMU Football Remains Undefeated in NEC After 45-31 Victory Over LIU

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. -  RMU scored two touchdowns in the game's final eight minutes in its 45-31 victory over LIU on Saturday afternoon at Joe Walton Stadium. With the win, the Colonials (4-3, 2-0 NEC) remain undefeated in Northeast Conference play, while the Sharks fall to 1-7, 1-2 NEC.

Anthony Chiccitt finished the day 19-of-25 for 351 yards and three touchdowns. On the ground, DJ Moyer ran for 88 yards and a pair of scores. Shawn Charles and Noah Robinson each went over the century mark, with Charles hauling in six balls for 141 yards and Robinson six for 126 yards.

On defense, Keon Freeman made a game-high 14 tackles, with William Barber adding 11. Jacquez Warren made 10 stops. Barber, Seth Verilus and Parker Jacobs each recorded a sack.

Jayson Jenkins got RMU on the board first on a 43-yard field goal at 11:36 of the 1st quarter. LIU answered with a score before Chiccitt found Robinson for a 75-yard touchdown to give RMU a 10-7 lead at 5:33. On the first play of the 2nd quarter, Chiccitt connected with Charles for a 62-yard touchdown pass, making the score 16-7.

The Colonials' defense got on the board when Barber sacked Sharks quarterback Ethan Greenwood forcing a fumble that was scooped up by Freeman for a 45-yard score to give RMU a 23-7 lead. A Sharks field goal at 4:06 was the final scoring of the 1st half as the Colonials took a 23-10 lead into halftime.

A Moyer touchdown would give RMU a 30-17 lead at 8:16 of the 3rd quarter, but the Sharks would record back-to-back touchdowns to take a 31-30 lead with 13:42 left in the 4th quarter. However, Moyer's second score of the day at 8:38 followed by a Charles touchdown reception with 2:10 left iced the game for the Colonials at 45-31.

Up next, RMU remains in NEC play as they host Saint Francis U at Joe Walton Stadium at 2 p.m.. The Red Flash (2-5, 0-3 NEC) fell to Wagner 14-0 earlier this afternoon.
