AKRON, OH. – RMU women's basketball secured their first road win of the season by defeating Akron, 59-53 on Wednesday night. The Colonials are now 2-1 to start the 2024-25 campaign.

FIRST QUARTER
- The Colonials spread the ball around taking a quick 13-5 leads as RMU had five different scorers to open the game.
- RMU had their most success from the field in the first frame shooting 53.8% percent from the field on 13 shots.
- Danielle Vuletich closed the quarter with two straight baskets, both of which coming in the interior of the paint.

SECOND QUARTER
- Akron's offense came alive through the first four minutes by going on a 9-2 run to make their deficit just three points.
- The Colonials struggled on the offensive side shooting just 33% from the field and a 0-4 mark from beyond the arc.
- RMU closed the first half on a high note as the visitors went on a 6-2 run to close out the quarter, with four of those points coming from Noa Givon.

THIRD QUARTER
- Akron began to cut the RMU lead even more until back to back baskets from Givon and Isys Grady stopped the Zips momentum.
- The Colonials would play strong defense throughout the quarter allowing just four field goals from the Zips.
- Â RMU closed the third frame with a 10-point lead thanks to consecutive jumpers from Rebecca Dwomoh and Naomi Barnwell.

FOURTH QUARTER
- The Colonials continued to shoot the ball in the fourth, knocking down nearly 60% percent of their shots in the frame.
- RMU had their biggest lead of the game after a Vuletich jumper extended their margin by 14 points.
- The Zips tried to work their way back into the game but final free throws by Mya Murray and Grady shut the door on any Akron comeback.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Givon led the Colonials with 16 points as she shot 7-12 from the field while also hauling in six rebounds. Vuletich recorded her first double-double of the season as she finished the game with 11 points and 10 boards. Grady, Dwomoh, and
Jada Lee all had seven points to close the game while Lee had a team-high three assists. The Colonials got far more contributions from their bench compared to Akron as the Colonials had 23 bench points compared to the Zips who had eight.
