MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU men's hockey is set for a two-game series against Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Conn., continuing their conference play. The series opens Friday, November 15, at 7:00 PM, with the second game on Saturday, November 16, at 4:00 PM. Both matchups will be available live on FloHockey.
RMU LATELY
RMU (4-1-2, 1-1-1 #AHA) enters the series on a high after a 5-2 road win over Mercyhurst.
Walter Zacher and
Gavin Gulash each scored twice, while defenseman
Dominic Elliott netted his first career goal.
Michael Craig, also on defense, contributed three assists, pushing him to a team-leading nine points (3g-6a) this season. Zacher leads RMU with six goals, while
Cameron Garvey has been key defensively, posting 16 blocked shots. Freshman goalie
Croix Kochendorfer has been impressive in net, securing four wins, one shutout, and a .926 save percentage in six starts.
NATIONAL RECOGNITION
RMU received votes in this week's USCHO Men's Hockey National Poll, marking the second time this season that Coach
Derek Schooley's team has garnered national attention.
SERIES HISTORY WITH SACRED HEART
The Colonials hold a strong 23-7-1 all-time record over Sacred Heart, dating back to 2004. From 2010 to 2018, RMU won 21 consecutive games against SHU, with an impressive average of 3.71 goals per game in the series.
SCOUTING SACRED HEART
Sacred Heart (4-5-1, 3-3-0 #AHA) recently swept Mercyhurst, winning 4-3 and 4-1. Junior forward Felix Trudeau leads the Pioneers with six goals and 11 points, while junior defenseman Mikey Adamson tops the assist tally with six. On defense, Hunter Sansbury leads with 33 blocked shots. Sophomore goaltender Cullen DeYoung has started eight games, securing two wins.
