FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart scored with 12 seconds left to secure a 4-2 victory over RMU. The Colonials drop to 4-2-2 overall and 1-2-1 in AHA play.
FIRST PERIOD
- RMU took the early lead 14 minutes into the first period when Mitch Deelstra's setup found Walter Zacher at the point. Zacher's slap shot rebounded to Michael Felsing, who converted for his second goal of the season.
- The Colonials successfully killed off one penalty in the opening frame.
SECOND PERIOD
- In the second period, Sacred Heart evened the score seven minutes in.
- With less than a minute remaining in the frame, Patrick Johnson caused a turnover in the neutral zone, carrying the puck into the offensive zone and scoring with a sharp shot to restore RMU's lead.
- Both teams failed to capitalize on power-play chances during the period.
THIRD PERIOD
- RMU maintained their lead in the third period until the Pioneers tied the game 2-2 with under seven minutes left.
- Sacred Heart scored the game-winner with 12 seconds remaining and added an empty-net goal in the final seconds to seal the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Sacred Heart outshot RMU, 31-21. Neither team converted on the power play, with RMU going 0-for-2 and SHU 0-for-3.

Greg Japchen made his season debut, recording one shot and two blocks. Goaltender
Croix Kochendorfer stopped 27 shots.
Patrick Johnson continued his hot streak with a goal, bringing his total to five points in his last four games.
