RMU Men’s Basketball Sweeps Urban-Bennett Invitational MTE Hosted by P3R After 73-62 Victory Over New Orleans

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa.  Alvaro Folgueiras recorded a double-double of a career-tying 19 points and 13 rebounds and DJ Smith scored a season-high 20 points led RMU to a 73-62 victory over New Orleans in the final day of the Urban-Bennett Invitational MTE Hosted by P3R at the UPMC Events Center. With the win, the Colonials swept all three games and improved to 4-2 on the season.

1st HALF
Smith's 3-pointer at the midway point of the 1st half started a 24-12 run that saw the Colonials take a commanding 30-14 lead at the 5:28 mark. UNO would cut the deficit down to eight points after ending the half on a 13-5 run to make the score 35-27 heading into halftime.

2nd HALF
RMU would regain the double-figure lead on a Chris Ford layup at 17:08, which gave the Colonials a 39-29 advantage. The Privateers would chip away at the lead and got the deficit down to a basket on Jah Short's layup which made the score 62-60 with 4:19 to go. But the RMU defense would not allow another UNO field goal the rest of the way, forcing five empty trips down the floor to close out the game.
