GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The RMU men's hockey team put forth a strong defensive effort but came up just short against No. 12 North Dakota, dropping a 1-0 decision on Saturday night. With the loss, the Colonials fall to 4-5-2 on the season.
FIRST PERIOD
- North Dakota struck early for the second straight game, scoring just two minutes into the contest.
- RMU had a chance to respond with a power play opportunity later in the period but was unable to capitalize.
SECOND PERIOD
- The Colonials earned two more power play chances but went 0-for-2 on the man advantage.
- RMU's penalty kill shone brightly, successfully neutralizing a five-minute major penalty.
THIRD PERIOD
- Both teams tightened up defensively, with each side registering just six shots on goal in the final frame.
- North Dakota preserved its 1-0 lead to sweep the weekend series.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- North Dakota outshot RMU, 27-20. Mitch Deelstra led the Colonials with four shots on goal.
- Greg Japchen recorded a team-high five blocked shots, his season-best performance.
- Junior goaltender Dylan Meilun delivered a stellar performance, making 26 saves and posting a .963 save percentage.

RMU returns to conference action next weekend, hosting AIC for a two-game series on November 29-30. Both games are set for a 5:00 PM puck drop at Clearview Arena.
