GREEN BAY, Wis. - The RMU Women's Cross Country team won the athletic department's first-ever championship after it captured the title on Saturday afternoon at the Shorewood Cross Country Course.
The Colonials finished with 67 points (3-5-13-22-24), seven points ahead of defending champion Oakland.
Julia Dill finished third overall, followed by
Samantha Hennen in fifth place.
Franny Kabana was 13
th,
Kaylee Foringer placed 22
nd and
Emma Jiancristoforo 24
th.
"We are so proud of the Robert Morris Women's Cross Country Team," said head coach
Bryan Delsite. "From last to next to last to Horizon League Champions in 3 years." In 2021, the Colonials finished 12
th of 12 teams 331 points. They were 10
th of 11 the past two years with 257 and 217 points, respectively.
"Coach Juris (Silenieks) has been a steady influence who believes in developing kids the right way. His impact on the program has been invaluable," added Delsite. "Senior Captain
Franny Kabana was 112th as a freshman and finished 13th today. She is a great leader and role model who represents everything that we want our program to be about."
Additionally, Delsite was named Horizon League Coach of the Year. "I am so humbled to be named Horizon League Coach of the Year. All of the credit goes to Coach Juris and the kids. Today is a great day to be a Colonial!"
Dill and Hennen were named First Team All-League, while Kabana was named Second Team All-League.

- RMU was predicted to finish 8th of 11 in the preseason poll
- Kabana finished 112th as a freshman - 99 places behind today's finish
- The top five finishers all were in the Top 25
