RMU Football Falls at No. 25/24 Duquesne

 
PITTSBURGH -  In the battle for first place in the Northeast Conference, Duquesne defeated RMU 31-6 on Saturday afternoon at Rooney Field.
 
The Dukes (7-2, 4-0 NEC) scored the game's first 24 points before the Colonials (6-4, 3-1 NEC) got on the board courtesy of Delvecchio Powell II's 10-yard touchdown run.
 
Anthony Chiccitt was 10-of-22 for 122 yards, Powell finished with 42 yards on the ground and Shawn Charles hauled in seven balls for 88 yards. Keon Freeman made a game-high 12 stops with four tackles for loss. On special teams, Steven Earnest averaged 41.6 yards per punt and had three kicks inside of the 20.
 
Duquesne's defense held RMU to 237 yards and stopped the Colonials on 10-of-11 third down attempts while sacking the quarterback seven times.
 
Up next, RMU remains on the road when it travels to Central Connecticut (5-5, 3-1 NEC). The Blue Devils defeated Stonehill 21-17 earlier today. The regular season wraps up on November 23 at Joe Walton Stadium when the Colonials welcome Stonehill for Senior Day.
