CHARLESTON, S.C. – The RMU women's basketball team came up just short in their first road game of the season, falling 74-69 in overtime to the College of Charleston. The Colonials now hold a 1-1 record to start the 2024-25 season.
FIRST QUARTER
- Noa Givon opened scoring for RMU with five quick points, including a three-pointer and a jumper.
- Down 10-7, RMU rallied with another three from Givon and a three-pointer from Rebecca Dwomoh.
- Jennica Suggs capped the first quarter with a three, giving RMU a 19-18 lead.
SECOND QUARTER
- Charleston took control with a 14-5 run through the first eight minutes.
- Danielle Vuletich added five late points, sending RMU into halftime trailing, 36-29.
THIRD QUARTER
- Charleston extended their lead initially, but RMU responded with scoring contributions from Vuletich and Naomi Barnwell.
- Givon and Jada Lee each scored in the final minute, tying the game at 52-52 to end the quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER
- RMU surged ahead with three-pointers from Dwomoh and Raissa Nsabua, followed by four points in the paint from Vuletich for a 62-56 lead.
- Charleston answered with an 8-0 run to regain the lead, but Barnwell's layup with 28 seconds left forced overtime.
OVERTIME
- Neither team scored in the first three minutes of OT until Charleston hit seven consecutive free throws.
- Late baskets from Dwomoh and Givon kept RMU close, but Charleston held on for the 74-69 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Givon led RMU with 17 points in 39 minutes, shooting 50% from the field (7-14). Dwomoh made three shots from behind the arc, while Vuletich contributed 14 points and four free throws.
Raissa Nsabua grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds. As a team, RMU shot 42.2% from the field compared to Charleston's 34.4%.
