Folgueiras’ Career-Highs Lead RMU Men’s Basketball Past Saint Francis 90-77

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa.  – Alvaro Folgueiras recorded career-highs of 27 points and 16 rebounds to lead RMU (8-5) to a 90-77 victory over Saint Francis (5-9) on Saturday afternoon at the UPMC Events Center.
 
1st HALF
The 1st half was tight throughout, with eight ties and 10 lead changes. The largest lead each team had was four points. With the contest tied at 37-37, DJ Smith hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Colonials a three point lead heading into halftime.
 
2nd HALF
With Saint Francis leading 48-47, RMU went on a 20-7 run over the next seven minutes to take a 67-55 lead at the midway point of the half. Kam Woods' 3-pointer at 6:29 made the score 80-60 and gave the Colonials its largest lead of the game at 20 points. Folgueiras' 3-pointer with 1:09 left was his career-high basket and gave RMU its 90th point of the game.

  • RMU's 90 points vs. SFU ties the fourth-most in series history and is the most for the Colonials since 2007 when they scored 94
  • Folgueiras' previous career-highs were 25 points at Purdue Fort Wayne on 12/08/24 and 15 rebounds against Saint Vincent on 12/17/23
  • He also tied a career-high with three blocks and three steals
  • Woods finished with 19 points and a season-high seven assists
