MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa.  – Alvaro Folgueiras and Amarion Dickerson combined for 48 points and 34 rebounds in RMU's 97-93 triple overtime victory against Northern Kentucky on Sunday afternoon at the UPMC Events Center. The Colonials sweep their three-game homestand and improve to 9-5 overall and 1-2 in the Horizon League. NKU's five-game winning streak comes to an end as they fall to 7-7 overall and 2-1 in Horizon League play.
 
1^st HALF
After falling behind 9-2 early in the 1^st half, RMU bounced back with a 15-5 run, highlighted by back-to-back Josh Omojafo dunks. NKU would regain the lead once again before the Colonials would close out the half by scoring the final seven points to take a 36-32 lead into halftime.
 
2^nd HALF
Dickerson's free throw at 16:41 made the score 45-37 and gave RMU its largest lead of the game at eight points. With the Colonials leading 47-42 at the 13:44 mark, the Norse went on an 11-0 run to take a 53-47 advantage with 11:34 to play. RMU would trail until Kam Woods' 3-pointer made the score 67-66 with 4:04 remaining. There would be four more lead changes until Trey Robinson's jumper with 19 seconds left tied the score at 73-73. Woods' 3-ball with two seconds left was off and Dickerson's put back attempt did not fall, sending the contest into overtime.
 
OT1
RMU scored the first four points of the first overtime, but NKU would take a 79-78 lead on Josh Dilling's 3-pointer with 48 seconds remaining. Woods' layup put the Colonials ahead 80-79 with 35 seconds to go. On the next possession, LJ Wells driving layup was blocked by Dickerson out of bounds. Dilling was fouled with eight seconds remaining, but only could convert one-of-two free throws, deadlocking the score at 80-80. Woods' 3-pointer attempt at the buzzer was no good and the game was headed to a second overtime.
 
OT2
After a Ryan Prather Jr. 3-pointer put RMU up 86-83 with 3:07 left, Wells answered with a 3-pointer 62 seconds later to close out the scoring. Neither team would make another basket or get to the foul line. Woods had a chance to win it at the buzzer, but his shot did not go.
 
OT3
The third overtime period had two lead changes and three ties. Dickerson's dunk with 26.3 seconds left broke a 92-92 tie putting RMU ahead for good. NKU had a chance to tie the game with 11 seconds left, but Wells missed the second of his two free throws. Woods was fouled on the ensuing possession, made the first free throw, but Dickerson was able to corral the offensive rebound on the second. Dilen Miller was fouled and sealed the game by making both free throws with three seconds left.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• This was the first time in the 1,448 games as a program RMU has played a triple overtime game
• Dickerson finished with a career-highs of 27 points, 15 rebounds and three steals
• Folgueiras scored 21 points and added career-highs of 19 rebounds and six assists
  • The RMU school record for rebounds is 20 held by Mike Morton (1.12.80 vs. Baltimore) and AJ Bramah (1.11.20 vs. Wagner)
• Woods finished with a double-double of 12 points and a career-high 10 assists
• RMU snaps its five-game losing streak against NKY that dated back to February 24, 2022
• All five of RMU's starters scored in double-figures (Omojafo finished with 11 and DJ Smith had 13)

 
UP NEXT
RMU hits the road for a pair of games in Michigan when they travel to Detroit Mercy on January 2 and Oakland on January 4. They return to the UPMC Events Center to host Cleveland State on January 8 and Wright State on January 12.
