MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU (6-4, 0-1 HL) dropped its Horizon League opener 72-58 to Youngstown State (4-5, 1-0 HL) on Wednesday night at the UPMC Events Center.
 
1^st HALF
The 1^st half started out slow with the teams combining to make two of 15 attempts. A Juwan Maxey 3-pointer put YSU ahead 23-13 at the 6:50 mark capping an 18-4 run. The Penguins would hold a double-digit lead the rest of the half, taking a 35-21 lead into halftime
 
2^nd HALF
Back-to-back jumpers by Nico Galette put YSU up by 20 points at 58-38 coming out of the under-8 time out. However, the Colonials went on a 14-4 run closing the gap to 10 points at 2:53. But the Penguins would answer with a 10-1 run and hold the Colonials to two field goals the rest of the way.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Kam Woods and Amarion Dickerson recorded double-figures for RMU, scoring 14 and 11 respectively
• Alvaro Folgueiras pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds, his seventh double-digit rebounding game of the season
• Dickerson led all players with four blocks
• The 58 points was a season-low

UP NEXT
Horizon League play continues on the road when RMU travels to Purdue Fort Wayne on December 8. The next home game is December 17 against Towson.
