RMU Men’s Basketball Falls to Purdue Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind.  – RMU (6-5, 0-2 HL) fell to Purdue Fort Wayne (6-4, 1-1 HL) on Sunday afternoon at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
 
1st HALF
The 1st half had three ties and eight lead changes.  Alvaro Folgueiras played a perfect half, hitting all five of his field goal attempts – including three 3-pointers – scoring 13 points. Trailing 22-17 at 9:15, RMU went on a 13-4 run over the next five minutes to take a 30-26 lead. However, PWF would counter with a 13-2 run to take a 39-34 advantage with 43 seconds left. Ismael Plet closed out the half with an and-1 to send the game into halftime with the Colonials trailing 39-35.
 
2nd HALF
After Purdue Fort Wayne went ahead by nine points at 14:17, a 12-2 run capped by a pair of foul shots from  Amarion Dickerson gave RMU its last lead of the game at 56-55 at 9:45 of the 2nd half. The Colonials would hold the lead for 1:16 before a pair of Corey Hadnot II put PFW ahead for the rest of the game.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Folgueiras finished with a career-high 25 points on 8-of-11 shooting and recorded his fifth double-double of the season by adding 12 boards – his eight FGs along with three blocks and five assists were also career-highs
  • Dickerson had a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds
  • Ryan Prather Jr. had 14 points with career-highs six field goals and five rebounds
  • Kam Woods scored 19 points and had tied his career-high with four steals
  • RMU's 29 field goals and nine steals ties a season high, the 16 assists are a season-high
 
UP NEXT
RMU returns home to the UPMC Events Center for a three-game homestand beginning on Tuesday,  December 17 against Towson followed by the nonconference finale against Saint Francis U on Saturday, December 21. The Colonials return to Horizon League play on Sunday December 29 against Northern Kentucky.
