MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's basketball team picked up their first conference win of the season against Milwaukee on Saturday, 56-55. The Colonials now own a 3-6 overall record while having a 1-1 mark in Horizon League action.
FIRST QUARTER
- Both teams were ready to score points out of the gate as there was four lead changes and three tied scores in the first quarter.
- Jada Lee and Danielle Vuletich each had four points to lead RMU in the frame, highlighted by a stellar drive to the lane and layup by Lee.
- RMU guard Alejandra Mastral tied the game at 12 with 28 seconds remaining in the quarter, but it was Milwaukee who got the final basket of the frame courtesy of a buzzer-beating layup.
SECOND QUARTER
- This was the Colonials best performing quarter as RMU shot 50 percent from the field (5-10) while only allowing the Panthers to shoot 18 percent (2-11) in the frame.
- The Colonials were dominant on the defensive side in the final 4:38 with RMU finishing the quarter on a 10-2 run.
- RMU took advantage of the Milwaukee miscues with the Colonials scoring seven points off of turnovers while the Panthers didn't tally any points off of RMU turnovers.
THIRD QUARTER
- Milwaukee looked to flip the script coming out of the break as the visitors outscored RMU 18-9 in the quarter.
- RMU shot their lowest percentage from the field in the game (23%) while going just 1-6 from beyond the arc.
- With Milwaukee controlling most of the quarter it was the Panthers who took a 39-37 going into the final frame.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Graduate forward Mya Murray brought the energy for RMU off the bench to start the quarter as she scored four straight points and helped ignite an 8-2 Colonials run.
- However, Milwaukee would battle back mostly due to the three ball as the Panthers shot a game-high 66 percent from beyond the arc in this frame.
- Both teams continuously exchanged points in the final two minutes but it was Raissa Nsabua who came up big from the free-throw line by making both of her shots with six seconds remaining.
- With RMU up by just one point the home team had to make one more stop, as it was sophomore guard Micah O'Dell who shut down Anna Lutz at the buzzer to secure the Colonials win.
WELCOME TO THE HORIZON LEAGUE

Chandler McCabe secured her first Horizon League win against Milwaukee with her squad boasting one of the top defenses in the conference. The Colonials are ranked second in the Horizon League in total defense as RMU has only given up 62 points per game through nine contests.

RMU was led in scoring by
Noa Givon as she had 10 points to go along with three rebounds and a team-high two assists.
Jada Lee and
Isys Grady each tallied nine points while Lee also had a team-high six rebounds.

The Colonials will have a week off before they host Mercyhurst in non-conference action at the UPMC Events Center. Tipoff is scheduled for next Saturday at 2 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN+.
