RMU's Offense Paves Way to 7-5 Victory at Lindenwood

14 skaters record a point

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – 14 RMU skaters recorded a point offensively to beat Lindenwood, 7-5. RMU is now 13-7-1 overall and 10-8-1 in conference games. The Lions moved down to 11-18-2 overall and 6-11-2 in the CHA.
 
1st PERIOD
  • It took less than four minutes for RMU to light the lamp. Owning possession in the neutral zone, Alaina Giampietro found Shailynn Snow into space. She went five-hole to score the first goal of the game.
  • Under four minutes later, Lindenwood cashed in their first goal, tying the score up.
  • In the last eight minutes of the opening period, the Colonials scored two more goals to take a 3-1 lead into intermission. Janelle Evans and Madison Primeau each posted a goal. Defenseman Chloé Puddifant dished out the primary assist on each score.
 
2nd PERIOD
  • Picking right up where they left off, the Colonials didn't take long to start the scoring in the middle frame. 19 seconds into the period, Mya Neugent sniped in a goal.
  • About a minute later, Lindenwood cut the deficit down to two as Chloe Corbin scored.
  • Halfway through the period, from a tight angle, Morgan Giannone nicely placed a shot into the top corner, making it a 5-2 score.
 
3rd PERIOD
  • Entering the final frame, RMU cashed in the first goal of the 20-minute period once again. In the midst of a penalty kill, Lindsey Smolen on the forecheck stole the puck of a Lindenwood player and skated in on goal. After her shot was saved, Calli Arnold bashed in the team's third shorthanded goal of the season. With the assist, Smolen registered her first-career helper.
  • A few minutes later, Chloe Corbin recorded her second goal of the night.
  • Back on special teams, freshman Catriona Crarer ripped in a power play tally for RMU.
  • Ahead 7-3, the Lions fought back to score two more goals but it wasn't enough as the Colonials came out of the game victorious, winning 7-5 on the road.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
From Calgary, Alberta, graduate defenseman Chloé Puddifant registered her third multipoint effort of the season and first three-point performance in the 2023-24 campaign. She also led the team in +/-, finishing with a +3. Across her last two games, she owns four assists. In the faceoff circle, graduate forward Jersey Phillips won a team-high seven faceoffs. Defensively, Wasyn Rice posted a team leading two blocked shots. Also, in the first period, the Colonials only allowed two shots on goal, which goes down as a team-best in the 2023-24 campaign. RMU's seven goals and 14 assists against the Lions are both season-high statistics.
 
MULTIPOINT EFFORTS
Along with Puddifants three-assist effort, forward Shailynn Snow also produced three points. With a goal and two assists, she now owns 95 career points (33-62—95). Freshman forwards Janelle Evans and Catriona Crarer also each produced one goal and one assist.
