OLEAN, N.Y. –
David Burr scored seven goals to led RMU to a 16-11 victory over St. Bonaventure on Tuesday afternoon. The win evens the Colonials record at 1-1 and drops the Bonnies to 0-3.
1st QUARTER
SBU got on the board on its first possession before RMU answered with goals from
Eric Swagerty and Burr 38 seconds apart. Trailing 3-2, Burr found the back of the net twice in 15 seconds to put the Colonials ahead 4-3. However, the Bonnies would get the next two goals to take a 5-4 lead heading into the 2
nd quarter.
2nd QUARTER
RMU came alive in the 2
nd quarter, outscoring SBU 8-2. Burr tied the match at 13:01 then put the Colonials up 62 seconds later.
Elliot Holden and
Kean Moon added goal to give RMU an 8-5 advantage with 8:43 remaining. The Colonials would score five of the next six goals – including
Joel McCormick's first of the season - to send the match into halftime leading 12-7.
3rd QUARTER
The pace of the match slowed down a little in the 3
rd quarter with each team scoring twice.
Ben Starkey and Holden scored for RMU.
4th QUARTER
Starkey scored twice and closed out the afternoon's tallies with 58 seconds remaining.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

- Holden added three assists for six points, which ties his career-high
- The last time a Colonial scored seven goals in a game was April 22, 2023 by Taggart Clark
- Starkey netted his second career hat trick
