LORETTO, Pa–  RMU Women's Lacrosse dropped a road contest against in-state foe Saint Francis, 15-9.
With the loss, the Colonials fall to 0-5 on the season. Additionally, the Red Flash picked up their first win of the season as they moved to 1-2 on the year.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Just under three minutes into the game
Colleen Tifft got the scoring started as she registered her third goal of the season. Soon after, the Red Flash went on a 3-0 scoring run until Tifft found the back of the net to make it 4-2 with three minutes left in the first frame. The Colonials found themselves down by five goals in the second quarter until
Jenna Irwin netted her first goal of the game to make it 7-3 in favor of the home team.
Chelsea Coleman and
Jerica Obee each scored within two minutes of each other in the second frame but the team still had to climb out of a multi-goal deficit. The last goal of the first half came from freshman
Isabella Teal who registered her first career goal with three minutes remaining.
RMU found themselves down by five goals to open the second half until
Julia Koterwas notched her first goal of the season. Unfortunately for the Colonials that was the only goal scored in the third quarter and trailed the Red Flash 13-7 heading into the final frame. Obee and Tifft were the lone goal scorers for RMU in the fourth quarter as they weren't able to complete the comeback on the road.
TIFFT MOVING UP
Colleen Tifft continues to climb the RMU Women's Lacrosse record books as she recorded a hat trick against Saint Francis which puts her at the 99 goals mark in her career. Tifft is currently slotted in the number nine spot all-time in RMU goals while she sits eighth all-time in total points with 133 after today's game.
FIRST TIMERS
Four RMU players had their season firsts against the Red Flash on Wednesday.
Jerica Obee netted her first two goals of the season against Saint Francis, one of which coming on a free position shot. Graduate student
Julia Koterwas also notched her first goal of the season for RMU as she now has 99 career points.
Maya Metz and
Paige Krawczel both made their first career starts against the Red Flash as they each recorded a shot on Wednesday afternoon.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Six different Colonials netted goals against Saint Francis, led by Tifft with three. Obee had a three point game as she tallied two goals and an assist. Irwin also registered three points off of two assists and one goal against Saint Francis.
Chelsea Coleman finished the game with one goal and one assist while Teal and Koterwas each had one goal games.
Sydney Riker had eight saves for the Colonials as she's started all five contests so far for RMU.

The Colonials will head south as they'll travel to play George Washington on Saturday afternoon. The game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
