WASHINGTON, D.C.– The RMU Women's Lacrosse team fell on the road against George Washington in non-conference action, 16-9.
With the loss, the Colonials drop to 0-5 on the season. George Washington picks up their second win of the season to move to 2-4 on the year.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
The Colonials began the game ready to score as RMU notched the first two goals of the game courtesy of Colleen TIfft and
Lilli Hadden. However, the Revs went on a 4-0 scoring run to end the first quarter to make it a 4-2 score going into the second frame. The second quarter was almost identical to the first as TIfft and Hadden scored again for the Colonials but the Revs once again outscored RMU 4-2 in the second frame.
RMU's first goal in the second half was scored by
Jenna Irwin five minutes into the second quarter but by that time the Colonials were down by five goals.
Lilli Hadden scored a man-down goal with 1:35 left in the third quarter as RMU was now looking at a six-goal deficit heading into the final quarter. Freshman
Anabel Kreydt made an impact as she registered her first career goal with the Colonials to make it 12-7 in favor of the home team. Six minutes later,
Jordan Anderson tallied her first goal of the game but the Colonials still had to play catch up as they trailed by six with seven minutes to go.
Jerica Obee scored the last goal of the day for the Colonials on a free-position shot with 1:06 remaining but the Colonials couldn't complete the comeback.
HISTORY MADE
Colleen Tifft made RMU history on Saturday afternoon as she scored her 100
th career goal just three minutes into the game. Tifft becomes just the ninth Colonial all-time with 100 career goals and is also in the top 10 all-time in terms of career points at RMU. The graduate student is just eight goals away from moving to number four all-time in career goals as a Colonial.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Lilli Hadden had the most points and goals for the Colonials on Saturday afternoon as she tallied three goals and one assist.
Colleen Tifft had two goals on two shots as she continues to climb the RMU leaderboard.
Jenna Irwin,
Anabel Kreydt,
Jordan Anderson, and
Jerica Obee each had one goal to help the RMU offensive attack.
Sydney Riker and
Megan Shepley each had time in net today as Riker had eight saves and Shepley finished the game with six.
UP NEXT
The Colonials will have almost a week off before they travel to North Carolina and face off against Queens next Friday. Game time is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
