  • Earlier this week, goalkeeper Sydney Riker was recognized by the Mid-American Conference as she was awarded Defensive Player of the Week after her performance against Queens. Riker recorded a career-high 16 saves and five ground balls while she registered her first win as a Colonial.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES (CANISIUS) – This will be the 12th meeting between the Colonials and the Griffins but RMU hasn't found much success against their non-conference foe. RMU is 1-10 in the all-time series as the Colonials got their lone win during the 2019 season when they defeated the Griffins in a thriller 11-10 at Joe Walton Stadium. The Colonials have averaged just about nine goals in the series history as senior midfielder Gia Anthony led the Colonials with two goals in last year's matchup.

SCOUTING THE GRIFFINS – Canisius has had a good start to their season as they come into Saturday's game with a 6-1 record against non-conference opponents. The Griffins have also defeated some of the same opponents that RMU will this season such as Detroit Mercy and Central Michigan. Canisius is led by Caroline Netti who has accumulated a team-high 22 points off of 19 goals and three assists. The Griffins have three players who have crossed the 20-point plateau through seven games this season.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES (AKRON) – The Colonials have found great success against their MAC counterpart since the series began in the 2020 season. RMU has a 6-0 record against the Zips with the Colonials averaging a stellar 15 goals per game. In last year's contest, RMU controlled the tempo on offense as the Colonials scored 17 goals with Chelsea Coleman leading the way with five. Colleen Tifft added four goals and two assists while Julia Koterwas and Lilli Hadden tallied two goals against the Zips last year on the road.

SCOUTING THE ZIPS – Akron has started their 2024 campaign with a 4-5 overall record as they're coming off two wins in a row against Presbyterian and Gardner-Webb. The Zips are led by freshman midfielder Sienna Hinchcliffe who has a team-high 26 points and 20 goals in nine games this season. Noelle Boyd currently leads the MAC in draw controls per game as she averages 5.11 draw controls per game and 46 total this season. In the MAC preseason poll, Akron was picked to finish fifth in the conference with 13 points.
