JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The RMU men's lacrosse opened its 2024 ASUN season with a 13-9 setback at Jacksonville.
Gavin Pedone,
Ben Starkey,
Elliot Holden and
David Burr each had two goals for the Coloinals (1-5, 0-1 ASUN).
1st QUARTER
Jacksonville found the back of the net twice and were the only team to score.
2nd QUARTER
Starkey scored at the 12:48 mark to make the score 2-1 before the Dolphins responded with two straight goals.
Joel McCormick answered at 10:18 and Pedone at 3:57 to get RMU within one at 4-3. The teams would exchange goals before JU's Sam Chase send the game into haltime at 6-4 with his goal with 53 seconds remaining.
3rd QUARTER
Jacksonville took an 8-4 lead in the quarter's first 2:13 before a pair of Burr goals followed by Holden's first of the match got RMU within one goal at 8-7 with 6:22 remaining. The Dolphins closed out the quarter by scoring three in the final 3:29 to take an 11-7 lead.
4th QUARTER
Holden got RMU within three at 9:44, but JU would get a pair of goals two minutes apart to take a 13-8 lead at 6:07. Starkey closed out the scoring at 5:01.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

- JU's Jacob Greiner had four goals and an assist
