RMU Men’s Basketball Falls to Purdue Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – RMU's regular season concluded with an 83-65 setback at Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday night.
 
1st HALF
After RMU jumped out to an early lead, Purdue Fort Wayne used a 17-3 run to go ahead 19-8 at the 12:53 mark of the 1st half. The Colonials would chip away at the lead and make it a one-possession contest five times, the last coming on a Josh Corbin 3-pointer that made the score 35-32. Quinton Morton-Robertson closed out the 1st half scoring with a 3-pointer to give the Mastodons a 38-32 advantage.
 
2nd HALF
RMU got within a basket at the 16:31 mark of the 2nd half after Corbin's 3-pointer cut Purdue Fort Wayne lead to 43-41, but an ensuing 18-1 run put the Mastodons up 61-42, forcing a RMU timeout at 10:34. Purdue Fort Wayne's lead would get a high as 24 points in the game's final minute.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Justice Williams and Corbin each had 13 points for RMU. Alvaro Folgueiras led the Colonials with seven rebounds and tied his career-high with five assists. Ben Krystkowiak tied his career-best with six points. RMU won the boards 42-34.
 
Anthony Roberts led all scorers with 18 points along with seven rebounds.
 
UP NEXT
The Colonials will remain in Fort Wayne to play the Mastodons in the first round of the 2024 Barbasol Horizon League Basketball Championship on Tuesday, March 5 at 7 p.m.
