CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The RMU men's lacrosse team fell to No. 5 Virginia 16-7 on Tuesday afternoon. The Colonials fall to 1-4 on the season while UVA improves to 4-1.
1st QUARTER
RMU fell behind 3-0 before
Ben Starkey found the back of the net at 10:53. This would be the Colonials' only goal of the quarter as Virginia took a 6-1 lead after 15 minutes.
2nd QUARTER
The Cavaliers scored three straight times to open the quarter, but RMU would come back scoring two of the next three goals from Starkey,
David Burr and
Owen Tapper at the buzzer to send the match into halftime with RMU behind 11-4.
3rd QUARTER
UVA would take a 14-4 lead before
Eric Swagerty and
Will MacLeod scored. The Cavaliers closed out the quarter scoring, going ahead 15-6.
4th QUARTER
The Colonials played the Cavs even in the final quarter.
Tommy Mullikin closed out the scoring with 15 seconds remaining.
