MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – YSU's early lead helped the visitors sweep the series, beating RMU in game three, 4-1. RMU is now 10-18 overall in the 2024 season and 5-7 in the Horizon League. Youngstown State now owns a 26-12, 13-2 #HLSB record.
GAME 3
- In the final game of the series, the first three runs were quiet as neither team scored.
- Up until the fourth inning, YSU rallied to score three runs.
- Entering the sixth inning, the Penguins added on to their lead, making it a 4-0 score.
- RMU responded in the bottom of the sixth. The rally began with a single by Catalina Saxen and Logan Black. Charlotte Grover followed it up with a walk.
- Avery Winchell came to bat and hit an infield single to bring pinch runner Faith Miller to home.
- In the end, YSU held onto their lead and won 4-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Penguins outhit the Colonials, 6-5.
Catalina Saxen led RMU in hits on the day with two. Senior
Charlotte Grover also earned two walks.
Faith Miller posted one run and
Avery Winchell produced the lone RBI. In the circle,
Jaimee Hardy started the outing, reaching three innings.
Kaitlyn Molitoris pitched the middle of the game, going three innings as well and paced for one strikeout. Junior
Madison DeVault closed out the game, throwing the final inning without allowing a hit.
UP NEXT
RMU will play a weekend series at Northern Kentucky University in Horizon League action. The series is scheduled for April 13-14.
