MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – In the regular season finale, RMU dropped a 14-11 decision to Air Force on Saturday afternoon at Joe Walton Stadium. The Colonials fall to 5-9, 4-5 ASUN and the Falcons improve to 9-5, 8-1 ASUN.
1st QUARTER
RMU scored the first two goals of the match, with
Eric Swagerty and
Joel McCormick scoring 52 seconds apart. Air Force got on the board at 8:57 in its only goal of the quarter.
2nd QUARTER
The Falcons tied the contest one minute in and would take a 4-3 lead at the 6:57 mark. Swagerty's second of the match tied the contest before AFA would take a 5-4 lead heading into halftime.
3rd QUARTER
Air Force extended its lead to 8-4 by 11:08 of the 3
rd quarter. Goals from
David Burr and Starkey would cut the deficit to two goals at 9:46. However, the Falcons would score five of the next six goals to take a 13-7 advantage heading into the final frame.
4th QUARTER
RMU opened up the 4
th quarter with three consecutive goals to make the score 13-10. Holden's second of the match closed out the scoring.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Burr finished the match with three goals and two assists
- Holden recorded two goals and two assists – six of his nine shots were on target
- Bo Columbus won nine faceoffs and had a team-high six ground balls
- Brandon Starkey caused three turnovers
- RMU outshot AFA 45-38 and caused 11 turnovers
- The Colonials were a perfect 19-19 on clears
