PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Panthers grand slam in the fourth inning led Pitt to a 4-1 victory, Tuesday night. RMU is now 18-22 overall this season and Pitt is 17-29.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first three innings of the contest were scoreless.
- RMU put together a solid rally in the top of the fourth, loading the bases but weren't able to score.
- Pitt then had the bases loaded in the fourth inning and hit a grand slam to take a 4-0 lead.
- As of late, the Colonials have battled back well in the seventh inning.
- In the final inning, Kaylyn Hopf reached first on a walk and then advanced to third base off a throwing error by Pitt's shortstop.
- Designated hitter Catalina Saxen brought in Hopf with an RBI-single but RMU's comeback fell short, losing 4-1.

Jess Matheny paced for a team leading two walks. Starting in the circle against the Panthers was junior
Madison DeVault. She went for four innings and threw three strikeouts.
Jaimee Hardy finished out the final two innings, pacing for two strikeouts and didn't allow a hit.
SAXEN STANDS OUT

Catalina Saxen recorded another three-hit game. She's produced a three-hit game, four times over her last eight. Saxen has reached season high's in 2024 in hits (36), doubles (15) and RBI (15).
UP NEXT
RMU will wrap up their regular season schedule at Virginia Tech. The double-header is scheduled for Saturday, May 4 with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 PM.
