RMU Women's Lacrosse Falls at Central Michigan

Mount Pleasant, Mi– The RMU women's lacrosse team fell on the road to conference foe Central Michigan, 11-6.


With the loss, the Colonials drop to 3-10, 2-2 MAC while the Chippewas moved to 3-11, 3-0 MAC.

1st HALF
The Colonials were the first team to get on the board as Colleen Tifft scored less than three minutes into the game. That tally would end up being the last goal for RMU in the frame as Central Michigan would go on to score three unanswered goals. RMU was outshot 11-5 in the first frame as Megan Shepley had a game-high four saves in the opening quarter.

RMU would strike first in the second frame thanks to Jenna Irwin who recorded her 17th goal of the season off an assist from Julia Hadden. Unfortunately for the Colonials, the Chippewas would score two straight goals to make it a 5-2 game midway through the second quarter. Chelsea Coleman found the back of the net with four minutes remaining to cut the CMU lead to two.

2ND HALF
The third quarter was a high scoring affair as both teams combined to score eight goals in the frame. CMU would start the quarter with three straight goals before Eliana LaMange ripped one to get RMU back on the board. The two teams would trade goals for the remainder of the quarter as Jerica Obee scored two goals in two minutes to keep the Colonials within reach.

RMU peppered five shots on goal in the fourth quarter but were unable to get any points on the board. CMU managed to get two goals in the quarter as they finished the game with 34 total shots.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Jerica Obee led the Colonials with two goals, both of which coming in the second quarter. Jenna Irwin, Colleen Tifft, Eliana LaMange, and Chelsea Coleman all scored one goal for RMU. The Colonials won the draw control battle 14-8, but Central Michigan had 14 ground balls compared to RMU's five.
