MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The RMU men's hockey team will welcome nine freshmen ahead of the 2024-25 season, as announced by Head Coach
Derek Schooley.

A total of nine first-year student-athletes will be infused into the lineup. Among the newcomers are one goaltender, two defensemen and six forwards.

Croix Kochendorfer
Goalie | St. Paul, Minn. | Ht: 6'4" Wt: 223 | Catches: Left
- Started his career with Chippewa Steel in the NAHL. Earned 16 wins for the organization with a .908 save percentage.
- Played in the USHL for two seasons, appearing in 32 games with the Sioux City Musketeers and Omaha Lancers.Â
- This past season, played in 21 games for the Aberdeen Wings (NAHL). Collected eight wins while owning a .920 save percentage and 2.67 GAA.

Schooley on Kochendorfer: "Croix is a big athletic goaltender that has played in the USHL and NAHL over the past three seasons. A Minnesota native that has tremendous upside and ability. We look forward to adding Croix to the mix who has worked with current goaltending coach Kyle Dirks during his time in Sioux City."

J.R. Ashmead
Defenseman | Calgary, Alberta | Ht: 6'2" Wt: 181 | Shot: Left
- Over the last four seasons, played in the AJHL for the Bonnyville Pontiacs.
- Registered 21 goals, 58 assists and 79 points in 172 games.

Schooley on Ashmead: "JR was a first team all-league player in the AJHL during his fourth season in the league. He has elite skating ability and can chip in offensively as well as defend hard down low. He should add to our defensive core immediately with his well-rounded game."

Dominic Elliott
Defenseman | Allendale, Mich. | Ht: 5'10" Wt: 176 | Shot: Right
- Started his career in the USHL, playing three seasons with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
- Last season, played 50 games in the NAHL for the Oklahoma Warriors, producing four goals, 21 assists and 25 points.

Schooley on Elliott: "Dom played over 160 junior hockey games between the USHL and NAHL. He's played on both special teams and adds a relentless compete level and ability to defend."

Michael Felsing
Forward | Pittsburgh, Pa. | Ht: 5'11" Wt: 181 | Shot: Right
- A hometown product, grew up playing for Montour High School and the Pittsburgh Predators.
- Was the captain for the Northern Cyclones in the NCDC during the 2022-23 season, recording 15 goals, 32 assists and 47 points in 49 games.
- Recently played for the Merritt Centennials in the BCHL last season. Scored 16 goals, 42 assists and 58 points in 53 games, including six points in six playoff games.

Schooley on Felsing: "Michael has outstanding skill as he can make plays under pressure and in tight spaces. He finished his BCHL career ranking sixth in scoring in the league. He's a natural center who has a high compete level to his game. We look forward to Michael returning home for his college career."

Connor Gourley
Forward | Calgary, Alberta | Ht: 6'2" Wt: 170 | Shot: Left
- Has played four seasons in the AJHL for the Camrose Kodiaks and Okotoks Oilers.
- Produced 42 goals, 48 assists and 90 points in 147 career games across his four years in the AJHL.
- Promoted to the Okotoks Oilers BCHL squad last year, Gourley registered nine points in 16 games for them along with four points in six playoff games.

Schooley on Gourley: "Connor is a big power forward who is willing to take pucks to the net and play a heavy offensive game. We look forward to adding Connor to our freshmen class."

Patrick Johnson
Forward | Chesterfield, Mo. | Ht: 5'8" Wt: 187 | Shot: Left
- Played the past four seasons in the NAHL for the Bismarck Bobcats.
- In 202 games, he scored 60 goals, 67 assists and 127 points, including nine points in nine playoff games.

Schooley on Johnson: "Patrick is a great leader as he's been a captain for the Bismarck Bobcats for the past two seasons. He led his team in playoff scoring last year. He was used on both special teams and lined up at both center and wing. We are excited to add Patrick to the Colonial family."

Adam O'Marra
Forward | Mississauga, Ontario | Ht: 6'0" Wt: 183 | Shot: Left
- Played the last three seasons in the OJHL for the Collingwood Blues and Trenton Golden Hawks.
- Posted 72 goals, 128 assists and 200 points in 151 games in the OJHL.
- Scored 13 goals, 30 assists and 43 points in 42 playoff games for the Trenton Golden Hawks.

Schooley on O'Marra: "Adam had a fantastic final season in the OJHL for Trenton. He finished fifth in the regular season in scoring with 94 points and 42 goals. He has a great shot and a knack for scoring goals along with great speed and play making ability. He'll challenge for minutes from day one."

Braden Rourke
Forward | Des Moines, Iowa | Ht: 6'0" Wt: 172 | Shot: Right
- Played the past two years in the USHL for the Des Moines Buccaneers.
- In 104 games, he produced 18 goals, 15 assists and 33 points.

Schooley on Rourke: "Braden comes to RMU from the Des Moines Buccaneers in the USHL. He plays a strong physical game and is great around the net. He excels on the penalty kill as well. He'll be joining a talented group of freshmen forwards."

Trent Wilson
Forward | Tsawwassen, British Columbia | Ht: 6'1" Wt: 187 | Shot: Left
- Competed in the BCHL the past three years with the Surrey Eagles and West Kelowna Warriors.
- Posted 34 goals, 34 assists and 68 points in 137 games over the last three seasons.
- In the playoffs, registered seven goals, 13 assists and 20 points in 26 games.

Schooley on Wilson: "Trent had a breakout playoff for West Kelowna in the BCHL scoring 15 points in 12 games to go along with 35 points in 54 regular season games. Trent is a 200ft center man who is great in the faceoff circle and a constant threat as a net front presence on the power play. He'll fill an immediate need up front."
