MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's soccer team wraps up their Indiana road trip on Sunday, August 25, with a 1:00 PM match against Indiana State, broadcast live on ESPN+.
RMU LATELY
RMU (1-0-1, 0-0-0 #HLWSOC) rallied in their second match of the season to secure a 2-2 draw against Southern Indiana. Second-half goals from
Paloma Swankler and
Haleigh Finale helped the Colonials earn the tie in their first-ever encounter with the Screaming Eagles. Goalkeeper
Brenna Murray matched her career-high with eight saves in the contest. So far this season, Swankler and
Emerson Johngarlo lead the team with two goals each, while freshman
Madison Hurst tops the assist chart with two. The backline, featuring Johngarlo,
Jillian Marvin,
Emily Rocco, and
Madi Jesih, has played all 180 minutes.
ALL-TIME VS. INDIANA STATE
RMU faced Indiana State for the first time in 2023, securing a 2-1 victory at the North Athletic Complex. Junior
Renae Mohrbacher scored in that match, assisted by Marvin, with Murray making five saves to seal the win.
SCOUTING REPORT: INDIANA STATE
Indiana State (2-0-0, 0-0-0 #TheValley) is off to a strong start with a 10-0 rout of St. Mary-of-the-Woods and a 2-0 win over Miami (Ohio). Senior Alexa Mackey leads the team with three goals, while three players have recorded two assists each. Graduate goalkeeper Maddie Alexander has kept clean sheets in both games, totaling five saves. Last season, the Sycamores finished with a 2-6-10 overall record, including a 1-4-5 mark in conference play.
