The Colonials jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first six minutes. Chiccitt found Robinson for a 14-yard touchdown at 10:44. Verilus' interception two plays into the Lakers' first possession set up a DJ Moyer 3-yard touchdown run. RMU extended its lead to 21-0 on Chaz Middleton's 5-yard scoring catch.

Mercyhurst would score on its next two possessions to make the score 21-14 before a 63-yard Robinson catch and run along with Trenell Ridgley's 17-yard score sent the game into halftime with RMU leading 34-14. In the second half, touchdowns by Edmonds, Ethan Shine and Trevor Wilson (from Zach Tanner) capped the Colonials' scoring.

RMU opens NEC play next Saturday, September 21 at Wagner. The Colonials return to Joe Walton Stadium on Saturday, October 12 against Delaware State for Homecoming. Kickoff is at 3:00 p.m.
