MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU volleyball team is set to play in their last non-conference matches when they battle Canisius and Central Michigan this weekend. The Colonials will be one of four teams this weekend partaking in the Four Twelve Project Volleyball Invitational which is co-hosted by Duquesne and RMU.

RMU LATELY
Last weekend, the Colonials lost in all three matches on the road against Utah Tech, Middle Tennessee State, and Utah Tech. Sophomore Jocelyn Jourdan led the Colonials with 26 kills in the three matches while Jaidan Hockman guided RMU with 53 digs on the defensive side. Overall, Hillarie Adams leads RMU this season with 85 kills with Azra Eric tallying a Horizon League best 47 blocks.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Canisius is coming into this weekend with a 4-4 record representing the MAAC. The Griffins are fresh off an 0-2 weekend where they lost to Bucknell and Youngstown State in non-conference play. Senior outside hitter Kara Zaucha leads the MAAC with a .336 hitting percentage through eight matches.

Central Michigan has been one of the top teams in the MAC so far this season as they come into Pittsburgh with a 7-2 record. Senior opposite side hitter leads the Chippewas with 99 kills in 38 sets played. Central Michigan has scored the most points in the MAC so far this year as they average 17.05 points per set.

HISTORY AGAINST TOURNAMENT OPPONENTS
The Colonials have a long-standing history with Canisius as this will be the 21^st meeting with RMU having 11 wins and nine losses against the Griffins. The most recent matchup took place last season when RMU defeated Canisius 3-1 at the UPMC Events Center.

This will be the fourth meeting between Central Michigan and RMU as the Chippewas own a 3-0 record against the Colonials. The last matchup took place in 2019 when Central Michigan swept RMU in a neutral site match at Youngstown State.

UP NEXT
RMU will open Horizon League play next weekend at home when they welcome Purdue Fort Wayne to the UPMC Events Center. The first match will take place on Friday, September 27 at 6 p.m. with the second match on Saturday at 2 p.m. Both matches will be streamed live on ESPN+.
