INDIANAPOLIS – The RMU men's soccer team secured their first Horizon League victory of the season, edging out IU Indy 3-2. With the win, the Colonials improve to 3-2-2 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play.
FIRST HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- RMU took control early, recording two shots and two corner kicks within the first 10 minutes.
- In a physical opening, Gabe Norris and Tim Koczulap were both issued yellow cards in the 11th and 13th minutes, followed by an IU Indy player receiving a caution in the 31st minute.
- Just a minute after that, the Colonials capitalized on their pressing. Kosi Udeh delivered a cross that found Kyler Miller, who headed it home for his first goal of the season.
- Another yellow card was shown to an IU Indy player in the 36th minute as the half ended with RMU up 1-0.
SECOND HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- IU Indy responded with intensity, posting four shots and two corner kicks before equalizing in the 55th minute.
- RMU wasted no time regaining the lead as Tim Koczulap found the back of the net off a corner kick, taking advantage of a failed clearance by IU Indy just one minute after the equalizer.
- The match grew more contentious, with the Jaguars receiving cautions in the 64th and 75th minutes.
- In the 76th minute, Chase Gilley capitalized on another defensive mistake by IU Indy, slotting home his second goal of the season to extend RMU's lead to 3-1.
- The Jaguars narrowed the gap to 3-2 in the 80th minute, but despite further pressure and another yellow card issued to the home side, RMU held on to secure the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Both teams had their share of chances, with IU Indy registering 15 shots (nine on goal) and RMU recording 14 shots (six on goal). IU Indy earned eight corner kicks to RMU's five.
Kyler Miller and
Kosi Udeh each tallied their first points of the season, with Miller scoring a goal and Udeh providing an assist.
Chase Gilley and
Kai McLoughlin led the team in shots, each recording three with two on target. McLoughlin along with
Anass Hadran,
Gabe Norris,
Fabian Overkamp, and
William Dodzi Afawubo played the full 90 minutes. In goal, sophomore goalkeeper
Josh Lane made a career-high seven saves to secure the victory.

Berlin native
Tim Koczulap continued his hot streak, scoring for the second consecutive match. The sophomore defender now leads the team in points this season with two goals and one assist, and has totaled two goals and three assists in his career.
