RMU Women's Soccer Concludes Road Trip at Detroit Mercy

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's soccer team wraps up their Michigan road trip with a Horizon League matchup against Detroit Mercy on Sunday, September 22 at 1:00 PM. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
 
RMU LATELY
RMU (2-3-3, 1-0-0 #HLWSOC) secured their first Horizon League victory of the season with a 2-1 win over Oakland. Graduate forward Haleigh Finale opened the scoring early in the match, assisted by Julia Becerra and Paloma Swankler. Although Oakland equalized a minute into the second half, the Colonials reclaimed the lead when Carson Bogan headed in a corner kick from Ava Trethewey, marking Bogan's first career goal and securing the win.
 
On the offensive front, Paloma Swankler leads the team with three goals and one assist, totaling a team-high seven points. Defensively, right back Jillian Marvin has played every minute of RMU's eight matches, logging 720 minutes this season. Graduate goalkeeper Brenna Murray has earned two wins in net and made 40 saves to date.
 
ALL-TIME VS. DETROIT MERCY
Since joining the Horizon League in 2020, RMU holds a 2-1-1 record against Detroit Mercy. Over the past two seasons, the Colonials claimed back-to-back 2-1 victories. Junior forward Renae Mohrbacher has registered a goal and two assists in her career against the Titans, while midfielder Taylor Day and defender Shauna Gamble each contributed to last season's win with a goal and an assist, respectively.
 
SCOUTING DETROIT MERCY
In 2023, Detroit Mercy posted a 7-9-3 record overall and finished Horizon League play at 5-5. So far in the 2024 season, the Titans are 3-6 overall and 1-0 in conference play after a 3-1 victory over Youngstown State in their most recent match. Graduate forward Erica Toupin leads the Titans' attack with four goals and one assist, while graduate goalkeeper Marisa Silver has anchored the defense, recording two wins and 24 saves.

Following their game at Detroit Mercy, RMU returns home to host Purdue Fort Wayne on Thursday, September 26, with kickoff set for 4:00 PM.
