DETROIT – Two second-half goals by Detroit Mercy handed the RMU women's soccer team their first Horizon League loss of the season, as the Colonials fell 2-1. RMU now stands at 2-4-3 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play.
FIRST HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- The first half ended scoreless, with RMU holding an 8-4 shot advantage.
- Paloma Swankler and Taylor Day both came close to scoring, each hitting the post.
SECOND HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- Detroit Mercy came out strong, earning two corner kicks early in the second half.
- In the 49th minute, Jen Mateyak scored her first career goal, heading in a corner to give the Titans a 1-0 lead.
- Mateyak received a yellow card in the 63rd minute after fouling an RMU player in the box, leading to a Colonial penalty kick.
- Graduate forward Haleigh Finale converted the penalty, placing it into the right side of the net to level the score at 1-1.
- Detroit Mercy reclaimed the lead in the 76th minute with their second goal and held on to win the match 2-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Detroit Mercy outshot RMU 15-11, with six of their shots on target compared to five for RMU. The Titans earned seven corner kicks, scoring on one, while the Colonials earned three corners. Goalkeepers
