MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU men's hockey team fell to RIT, 3-2, in the series finale on Saturday night, splitting the two-game set. The Colonials drop to 9-11-3 overall and 6-7-2 in Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) play.
 
FIRST PERIOD

• The Tigers jumped out to a quick start, taking a 2-0 lead within the first 11 minutes on goals from Stewart Crossley and Matthew Wilde.
• RMU responded as Gavin Gulash crashed the crease to score off a rebound. Trent Wilson and Michael Felsing assisted on the play.
• RIT outshot RMU 11-6 in the opening frame.

 
SECOND PERIOD

• The Colonials tied the game early in the second period when Mitch Deelstra scored a backhand beauty, assisted by Cody Monds and Michael Craig.
• Moments later, RIT reclaimed the lead as Grady Hobbs scored his second goal of the season.
• Both teams registered eight shots in the second period.

 
THIRD PERIOD

• RMU pressed hard in the final frame, recording 13 shots on goal, but RIT's defense held firm.
• The Colonials pulled their goalie in the closing minutes but couldn't find the equalizer.

 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• RMU outshot RIT 27-24, but the Tigers held a slight edge in faceoff wins (50.9%).
• Deelstra and Cameron Garvey each recorded a team-high four shots on goal.
• Trent Wilson won 10 faceoffs, continuing his strong performance in the circle.
• Defensively, Greg Japchen blocked five shots, bringing his season total to 37 in 15 games.
• In net, Croix Kochendorfer made 21 saves.
