MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU men's hockey team fell to Army in a tightly contested defensive matchup, 2-0, on Saturday evening. The loss drops the Colonials to 9-13-3 overall and 6-9-2 in Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) play.
FIRST PERIOD
- Neither team found the back of the net in the opening 20 minutes.
- Shots were even at 11 apiece, with RMU holding a slight edge in faceoffs, 9-7.
SECOND PERIOD
- The middle frame remained scoreless despite power play opportunities for both teams.
- RMU successfully killed off two penalties and finished 0-for-1 with the man-advantage.
- The Colonials dominated the faceoff circle, winning 11 of 15 draws (73.3%).
THIRD PERIOD
- Army broke the scoreless tie with seven minutes remaining as Pierce Patterson's shot deflected in.
- RMU pulled goalie Croix Kochendorfer in the final two minutes to add an extra skater. Captain Michael Craig nearly equalized with 30 seconds left, ringing a shot off the post.
- Army sealed the victory with an empty-net goal with eight seconds remaining.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Army held a narrow edge in shots, 32-29, while RMU excelled in the faceoff circle, winning 60% of the draws (33-55).
- Gavin Gulash led the Colonials with six shots on goal.
- Patrick Johnson and Cameron Garvey each won 10 faceoffs to pace the Colonials.
- In net, freshman Croix Kochendorfer made 30 saves.

The Colonials will close out January with a single-game against Canisius on Tuesday, January 28. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM at Clearview Arena.
