Woods' Season-High 29 Points Leads RMU Men’s Basketball Over Oakland 79-71

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Kam Woods' scored 20 of his season-high 29 points in the 2nd half in RMU's 79-71 victory at Oakland on Saturday afternoon. The Colonials improve to 10-6, 2-3 HL while the Golden Grizzlies fall to 5-11, 2-3 HL.
 
1st HALF
By the midway point of the half, RMU never trailed and had built a 22-16 lead. However, a Cooper Craggs layup started a 15-2 Oakland run which gave them a 31-24 lead at 5:18, capped by back-to-back 3-pointers by Jalen Jones. The Golden Grizzlies would take a seven-point lead into halftime at 39-32.
 
2nd HALF
Down 49-41 at the 16:47 mark, RMU went on a 10-0 run with five straight points from Ryan Prather Jr. sandwiched between a Woods 3-pointer and an Alvaro Folgueiras jumper to go ahead 51-49 at 13:29. Malcolm Christie would answer with a 3-point to briefly give OU the lead, but the Colonials would respond with a 14-3 run to take a 65-55 lead with 5:03 remaining. The Colonials would keep it a two-possession game the rest of the way.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Woods was one point shy of tying his career-high of 30 points
  • Josh Omojafo scored 15 points and was a perfect 8-8 from the foul time
  • Folgueiras was one rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with 11 points and nine rebounds
  • Dickerson tied his career-high with four assists and recorded game-highs of 10 rebounds and three blocks
  • Prather grabbed a career-high six rebounds
  • RMU shot a season-best 46.7% from the 3-point line (7-15)
