TEMPE, Arizona – The RMU men's hockey team fell in game two of the ASU Desert Classic to UMass, 8-0. The Colonials are now 8-9-2 overall.
FIRST PERIOD
- UMass scored the first goal of the game five minutes in with a power play tally.
SECOND PERIOD
- UMass broke the game loose scoring three goals in a 49 second window to make it 4-0.
- Before the period ended, they added in another power play tally to gain a 5-0 advantage.
THIRD PERIOD
- In the final frame, UMass scored three more goals to win the game, 8-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
UMass held an edge in shots on goal, 40-22 and won 33 of 59 faceoffs.
Walter Zacher and
Michael Craig each posted a team-high four shots while
Cameron Garvey won eight draws in the faceoff circle. Defensively, as a team, the Colonials blocked 14 total shots. In net,
Croix Kochendorfer made 32 total saves.
