HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The RMU women's basketball team closed out their two-game road trip with a loss at Northern Kentucky, 72-58. The Colonials now have a 5-10 record this season and own a 1-5 mark in Horizon League action.
FIRST QUARTER
- The Colonials didn't have the start they hoped for only scoring three points in the first four minutes of action.
- Northern Kentucky sustained a lead for the entirety of the quarter thanks in large part to the three ball as the Norse were a game-high 3-6 from beyond the arc in the stanza.
- RMU climbed back into the game and finished the quarter by going on a 6-0 run in the final three minutes to cut the Northern Kentucky lead to two points.
SECOND QUARTER
- RMU had one of their better shooting performances in a quarter this season during the second stanza as the Colonials went 8-15 from the field and 4-4 from the charity stripe.
- Colonials forward Isys Grady was a standout performer this quarter as she had 10 of her 16 points in the frame and helped RMU jump out to their largest lead of the game.
- RMU went into the break with a 35-33 lead while holding Northern Kentucky to their lowest shooting percentage of the game at 33 percent in this stanza.
THIRD QUARTER
- Both teams were locked in coming out of the break as there was a game-high seven different instances where the game was tied in this quarter.
- Colonials guard Katelyn Chomko got her first start of the season and drilled a high arching three-pointer to put RMU up 44-42 with two minutes remaining in the stanza.
- With RMU down by three in the final possession of the quarter, Alejandra Mastral notched a three-pointer that would tie the game at 49 going to the final frame.
FOURTH QUARTER
- RMU graduate forward Mya Murray got off to a fast start in the frame as she made a big layup that came with a foul on NKU which game RMU the lead for the time being.
- However, Northern Kentucky's offense woke up and went on a 12-3 run that took up the majority of the quarter and would give the Norse their largest lead of the game.
- The Colonials would try to battle back with another Chomko three-pointer but the Norse would run away at the end, 72-58.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Mya Murray led the charge for RMU as she scored a team-high 17 points in just 19 minutes off the bench while also corralling nine rebounds which led the Colonials.
Isys Grady played a team-high 40 minutes and matched her season-high with 16 points against the Norse.
Katelyn Chomko made her presence felt with nine points and going 3-6 from beyond the arc.
