RMU Football Hosts Central Connecticut for Homecoming

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – It's Homecoming weekend in Moon Township, and Robert Morris (1-4) kick off their NEC schedule on Saturday, October 11 for Homecoming weekend at Joe Walton Stadium against Central Connecticut State (3-3, 1-0 NEC). The Colonials are looking to rebound after a 24-7 non-conference loss to Merrimack. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:02 p.m.
 
CCSU LATELY             
Central Connecticut is coming off a 42-35 overtime victory against Sacred Heart last week. Quarterback Brady Olson is the reigning NEC Offensive Player of the Week after passing for a career-high 323 yards and four touchdowns. Reigning NEC Offensive Player of the Year Elijah Howard is second in the league in rushing, averaging 70.2 yards per game. On defense, Christopher Jean leads the league with three interceptions. CCSU ranks second in the NEC in both scoring offense (27.0 ppg) and scoring defense (26.5 ppg). The Blue Devils are 0-2 on the road this season, with losses at UConn and Merrimack.
 
THE SERIES                 
This rivalry dates back to 1994, with Robert Morris leading the all-time series 17-10 and holding a 15-10 advantage in NEC matchups. However, Central Connecticut has won the last four meetings between the two programs, including a double-overtime game last season.
 
LAST TIME OUT                      
Central Connecticut State overcame a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit to prevail 35-33 in double overtime against RMU on November 16, 2024, in New Britain, Conn.
 
RMU IN NEC OPENERS          
RMU is 13-12 all-time in NEC season openers. Of those 25 contests, the Colonials are 3-9 in NEC season openers played at home.

DID YOU KNOW?
Former Colonial Carl Smith Jr. played for CCSU head coach Adam Lechtenberg while Lechtenberg was on the Virginia Tech staff in 2020. Smith later transferred to RMU, playing for Colonials head coach Bernard Clark Jr. during the 2024 season.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
RMU will play the next three games on the road beginning with LIU on October 18. They head to Loretto, Pa. against Saint Francis on October 25 before wrapping up their roadtrip at Stonehill on November 1. The next home game is November 8 against Wagner.
