RMU Men’s Soccer Drops First Conference Game of the Season

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The RMU men's soccer team dropped its first Horizon League match of the season Saturday afternoon, falling 2-1 on the road at Green Bay. The Colonials move to 4-3-7 overall and 2-1-5 in conference play with one game remaining in the regular season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Just 90 seconds into the match, it looked as though RMU had struck first when Jack Bejarano buried a goal — but the early tally was waved off for offside.

Moments later, Green Bay capitalized on its first opportunity. Keegan Walker opened the scoring for the Phoenix, then doubled the lead in the 15th minute with his second of the day to make it 2-0.

RMU nearly cut the deficit in half in the 30th minute when Anass Hadran's curling free kick from near the corner deflected off the crossbar. A minute later, Green Bay hit the bar on the other end, keeping the score unchanged at halftime.

The Colonials found life in the 60th minute. Bejarano drove down the left wing and slipped a precise pass into the box, where Hadran finished with his left foot to make it 2-1.

RMU continued to apply pressure late, and Hadran came close to equalizing again on a free kick that forced a diving save.

Despite the push, the Colonials couldn't find the tying goal and dropped their first conference match of the campaign.
