RIT Scores Late to Defeat RMU, 3-2

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – In another tightly contested matchup, RIT broke a 2-2 deadlock with 47 seconds remaining, securing a 3–2 victory and a weekend sweep over RMU. The Colonials move to 2-7-1 overall and 2-2-0 in Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) play.

FIRST PERIOD
The Colonials wasted no time generating offense. On the opening shift, RMU's second line forced a turnover on the forecheck, allowing Michael Felsing to feed George Krotiris in the slot for a quick strike and a 1–0 lead. Ryan Taylor picked up the secondary assist on the play.

RIT responded just two minutes later when Tyler Mahan finished a 2-on-1 rush to even the score.

In a period full of dangerous looks on both ends, RMU reclaimed the lead at the eight-minute mark. After the Tigers' goaltender attempted to clear the puck off the end boards, senior defenseman Greg Japchen jumped on the opportunity and snapped a shot through traffic to put the Colonials back ahead, 2-1.

RMU closed the frame with a 10–9 edge in shots, though the Tigers carried power-play time into the second period.

SECOND PERIOD
The Colonials killed off the remainder of the RIT power play to start the period, but the Tigers found the equalizer shortly after as Ty Whyte scored at even strength to make it 2–2.

Chances tightened up as the period went on, with RIT registering seven shots and RMU recording five. Each team had one power-play opportunity in the frame but failed to convert.

THIRD PERIOD
Both sides came inches from breaking the tie early in the third. Five minutes in, Tanner Klimpke ripped a shot that rang off the pipe. Minutes later, RIT's Ryan Williams returned the favor with a wrister that clanged off the post at the other end.

As the game appeared destined for overtime, RIT delivered the decisive blow in the final minute. After Mathieu Roy-Cobetto's shot created a rebound in front, Christian Catalano crashed the net and buried the loose puck with 47 seconds remaining, pushing RIT ahead for good.
