RMU Men’s Basketball Defeats Stetson, 80-62, in Day 3 of Urban-Bennett Invitational

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Four players scored in double figures as Robert Morris (6-3) extended its home winning streak to 13 games in its 80-62 victory over Stetson (3-6) on the final day of the Urban-Bennett Invitational. The Colonials led for 38 minutes and were fueled by a game-high 17 points from Ryan Prather Jr., who made 5-of-8 3-pointers.
 
1st HALF
The game started with five lead changes until Stetson held a narrow 8-7 edge. The momentum quickly shifted as RMU seized control, igniting a 14-4 run to establish a 21-12 lead by the under-8 media timeout. The Colonials continued their offensive surge, extending their advantage to 15 points with a 3-pointer from Ta'Zir Smith and a jumper from Prather, making the score 36-21 with 4:30 left in the half. Prather Jr. delivered another 3-pointer at the 2:29 mark, doubling up the score at 42-21. RMU ultimately took a 45-28 lead into the halftime
 
2nd HALF
RMU started the second half strong, pushing their lead to its highest point of 22 points early on. However, Stetson responded, going on a 17-4 run, capped by Jamie Phillips Jr.'s and-one play, which cut the deficit down to single digits (54-45) with 13:51 left on the clock. The Colonials quickly reasserted control from beyond the arc, with Prather hitting two 3-pointers and Kaleb Brown adding another that gave RMU a 65-51 lead at the midway point of the half. RMU continued to pull away, extending their lead back to 20 points at 73-53 after a 13-4 run, sealed by a Nikolaos Chitikoudis free throw. Stetson was unable to mount a comeback, failing to get closer than 15 points for the remainder of the game.

  • Smith scored 13 points, Albert Vargas added 12 and Chitikoudis 11
  • RMU outrebounded Stetson 38-25, led by DeSean Goode with 10
  • This is the fifth game this season RMU has scored 80 or more points
  • The Colonials shot a season-highs 55.4% (31-56) from the field and 50% (12-24) from the arc
  • Darius Livingston tied a career-high with seven assists
