MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Despite having a chance to go ahead in the final minute of play, Robert Morris fell to Wagner, 24-20, at Joe Walton Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
With 27 seconds remaining in regulation, RMU's drive concluded when quarterback
Cooper Panteck's pass to
Kai Holloway on 4th down and 10 from the Wagner 19-yard line was broken up by Seahawks defensive back Daren Omoregie.
In the first quarter, the Colonials tied the game at 7-7 when
Zach Tanner connected with
Chaz Middleton for a 5-yard touchdown pass.
Jayson Jenkins added a 36-yard field goal just before halftime (0:05). In the third quarter, the Colonials tied the score again at 17-17 when Tanner threw his second touchdown pass, a 7-yard completion to
Jaqai Carter (5:45). Jenkins closed out the scoring for Robert Morris in the fourth quarter with a 37-yard field goal (7:41), making the final score 24-20.
Offensively for the Colonials, Carter recorded a career-high with 141 yards on 11 catches.
On defense, linebacker
Patrick McDonnell logged a career-high 13 tackles (5 solo, 8 assisted), and linebacker Mitchell Robinson, Jr. finished with a career-high 10 tackles (3 solo, 7 assisted).
Robert Morris's record moves to 3-7 (2-3 NEC) on the season.
RMU wraps up the road portion of the schedule at Mercyhurst on November 15. The regular season finale is November 22 at home against Duquesne. The Lakers (4-6, 3-2 NEC) defeated Saint Francis 16-15 earlier today.
